MK Periodontics & Implants Statement on COVID-19 (effective 5/19/2021):
We hope that you are all healthy and well as we all navigate the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. While many things have changed, one thing remains the same: our commitment to your safety. MK Periodontics & Implants will continue to protect our patients and staff with the highest level of universal precautions and necessary PPE during this pandemic. We have and will continue to closely follow all recommendations of the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC), American Dental Association (ADA) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Recently the CDC changed its recommendations regarding wearing masks once a person is fully vaccinated. The COVID-19 pandemic is not over, but the increased number of vaccinated people is changing how we live in the current environment. As a healthcare facility, the CDC recommends continued masking. So, MK Periodontics & Implants will continue to require face coverings for all patients and staff. All other COVID-19 policies are still in place regardless of an individual’s vaccine status. We will continue to screen for COVID-19 symptoms.
Not only have we installed a whole-office UV air treatment system on our HVAC systems, but each operatory is now equipped with individual air purification units. We would also like to explain our new procedures and let you know what you can expect for your next appointment at our office:
- "Curbside Waiting Room" - When you arrive for your appointment, please stay in your car. Call or text our office at 815-201-1000 and let us know you are here. We will communicate with you when your treatment room is ready.
- All patients will be asked to wear a mask while in the office unless we are actively working in your mouth.
- All patients will be asked to wash their hands or hand sanitize upon entry into the operatory. A preprocedural mouth rinse will be used to decrease the bacterial and viral load in your mouth. A member of the staff will again go over the COVID-19 screening questions and take the patient’s temperature with a touchless thermometer.
All of us at MK Periodontics & Implants are excited to be entering the next phase of a vaccinated COVID-19 pandemic as we continue to provide safe and effective periodontal and implant care to our patients.
Please contact our office with any questions, concerns or to schedule an appointment at 815-201-1000. Thank you, and we cannot wait to see all of you soon!
Sincerely,
The MK Periodontics & Implants Team
